The latent dissatisfaction with the delay in granting the special status of Andhra Pradesh erupted on Saturday when a worker attempted suicide Congress up in flames in a public meeting organized by the Committee of the Congress of Andhra Pradesh here. APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy announced Rs 2 lakh assistance in addition to the promise to take care of the medical needs of Koti.
The suicide attempt caused tension in the city, as police stepped up security as a precaution. Koti has been admitted to hospital Ruia. A large number of Congress workers gathered at the hospital raising slogans against the BJP and TDP. Later, he moved to CMC Vellore Koti and his condition is said to be critical. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu AP held a meeting with opinion leaders in Hyderabad TDP high and urged young people against the use suicides special condition. "The state government has been constantly trying to secure special category status," he said.
